A lot of evolutionary researchers think that morality is basically just rule adaptive rules for human survival, given more fluffy and philosophical language. But a hundred thousand years ago, there are certain mental adaptations that helped us survive in that kind of environment. And so they're not really rules necessarily. A lot of the psychological mechanisms that we have evolved to counteract other people's psychological mechanisms as well.
