Is Rate Limiting a Scam?
The email form to invite someone probably thought, okay, this is only going to be used for legitimate reasons. And then this example is to illustrate how it can be used for bad things. So the scammer in this case writes like a Python script or an Elixir script and presses send. They see an output of maybe 50,000 emails sent. That's fantastic because they didn't have to spend any money at all. Now switch perspectives to an engineer at this company who just received an email from their provider saying, hey, your spam rate is above a threshold. If it continues, you're going to be kicked off our service.
