The Importance of Intentional Community in Buddhism
We cannot return to a neo-pagan. We can't go back to that. It's not possible anymore. There isn't a space, the places have gone. And anyway, we wouldn't particularly like it. So we can only move forward and try to recreate what rootedness gives you in terms of a traditional society intentionally. This is why Dovimitra nicely illustrated that for me by talking about our friendship. The Sangha has a very special meaning in Buddhism. But it's not just any old community. It's a community that is united in the highest ideals, in the ideals of enlightenment.
