Gardening in the 1960s
Chris Baines was trained as a horticulturalist, grew up in a family of passionate gardeners and countryside lovers. He studied horticulture in the 1960s and was rather shocked when he went to university to discover that I was just being taught how to kill everything. But you were very much a wildlife gardening pioneer, weren't you? Because you took the first wildlife garden to Chelsea. Even before that, amazingly, I made a wildlife garden on Gardeners World for BBC.
