The Light Effects of Venice Paintings

I think light is a really good way of binding together a painting if I'm wanting to bring in lots of different things. So I prime with white and then I do sort of a wash of yellow over the top of it so and then I wipe that back in places where I want it to be really bright. It's not like you're creating illusion. It really is light. There's something kind of like real about it which is quite nice. Venice is this incredible time capsule of 18th century art and architecture and getting a really good taste of what it would have felt like, she says.
