CHAPTER

How to Write a Melody in Two Days, You Know?

"I had nine, maybe 10 or 11 different melodies and eight of them seem to be pretty darn close to a whole thing melody wise, but just whistling. No idea what the chord changes are," he says. "So that's really different for me to have the whole melody and be sitting there writing words to a melody and not knowing the chords or any of the instruments or anything."

I put the phone
Speaker 3
down on top of the computer and made another movie of just the, you
Speaker 2
know, the high res duplication. The phone is sitting on the TV. Speaker to a microphone. Yeah, there's no wires. The phone speaker to the microphone of the computer.
Speaker 3
So I put it down and I remembered
Speaker 6
and I copied all of the whistling and there were
Speaker 9
like 58 tracks of what how.
Speaker 5
But I have multiple tracks for each song and each day was different. So I had to organize it. And then I found out at the
Speaker 4
end I had nine, maybe 10 or 11 different melodies
Speaker 6
and eight of them seem to be pretty darn close to, you know, a whole
Speaker 9
thing melody wise,
Speaker 3
but just whistling.
Speaker 5
No idea what the chord changes are. No idea. No instrument.
Speaker 3
So that's really different for me to have the whole melody
Speaker 1
and be sitting there writing words to a melody
Speaker 3
and not knowing the chords
Speaker 1
or any of the instruments or anything. So
Speaker 4
I did that in two days. I wrote all the words.
Speaker 8
It sounds funny.
Speaker 3
It is. It happened so fast
Speaker 4
and I never
Speaker 3
rewrote anything. I never fixed
Speaker 4
anything. Everything came out right the first
Speaker 3
time and that's very rare as you never never like that.
Speaker 4
But it was like that this time. So
Speaker 3
you got these two unheard of things that I'm, you know, for me that I'm doing and then I had to figure out what instrument to do it
Speaker 1
on and what the chords were.
