The European Parliament will hold an emergency debate today on allegations that Qatar tried to buy influence over its policy decisions. A secret operation involving Belgian police and reportedly the intelligence services of five European countries continued to raid homes, hotel rooms and parliamentary offices across Brussels. High profile figures including a vice president of the European Parliament were arrested and charged with participation in a criminal organization money laundering and corruption. Watchdogs believe this could be the biggest corruption scandal that has ever hit the European Parliament.
