Emily Dickinson's Love Affair
Emily Dickinson engaged in a love affair with her papa's friend Otis Philip Lord. She wrote, when the time is right I will lift the bars and lay him in the moss. Her brother Austin Dickinson was also in love, but not with his wife Susan, with the very young wife of a professor at the college. Mabel Todd was from the city and she felt like Amherst was sort of beneath her - kind of like Zha Zha Gabor.
