Jean Luen Yang is an award-winning writer and illustrator. He was embedded with his high school's basketball team in Oakland California they were competing for the state championships some of these kids would likely end up playing professionally. Even though he hated sports as a kid, Jean found this incredible story that was so compelling I could not ignore it "I think people go to watch sports because we want to watch like courage and perseverance on display"
