What Is the History of the Peninsula?

By the end of the middle archaic period, around three thousand b c, florida settled more or less into the landscape and climate that we know in modern times. This is the time when it seems mounds first started to appear. So people started piling up objects like shells, sand other debris into sculptured mounds. For whatever reason, there also started to be more long term habitations where groups people would live for most, or maybe even all of the year. And these appeared especially in places with very abundant food sources. Like along saint john's river in northeastern florida.
