The Transition Between Marxism and Anti Capitalism
The state can only ever disappear when its historical and material foundations disappear, which is a protracted process, not an acute event. The transition from one mode of production to another has never happened overnight. Not once in human history has the political model of an older mode of production, say monarchy under feudalism, transition immediately and all at once to a new political model in mode of production such as parliamentary democracy under capitalism. Therefore, we should expect the transition from capitalism to communism,. what we Marxists call socialism, to be a similar protracted process of revolutionary leaps forward, followed by reaction and setbacks., undermined by internal contradiction and external pressures.
