The Mystery of Karl Gabriel's Death
The murder of Victoria Gruber and her husband, Hans Hintechifek on 31st March 1922. Both were arrested for the murders but later released as they could provide watertight alibis that kept them away from the area. After taking a detailed inventory of the house and finding large sums of gold marks and valuables, investigations moved away from robbery as motive. In doing so, the investigations opened up to a slew of suspects and other motives based around local gossip and hearsay. One of the more out there suspects of the time was Karl Gabriel, Victoria's dead husband. The police surmised that if Karl had in fact survived, he may have returned to the farm
