The Winning of the West by Frederick Jackson Turner

Roosevelt wrote the frontier thesis before Frederick Jackson Turner did, which I think is amazing and not talked about enough. What he sees happening in that development of an American race in the frontier is they're acquiring key traits for civic development, democracy. He very much believes that Christian values are associated with the development of the race. And most importantly, possibly the bringing of order to disorderly places.
