Chapter 8 - Affections to Be Aroused
Saint Francis gives us a few more tools with respect to examinations of conscience, or sort of examining the state of where we are. After you have quietly considered each point of examination and discovered the state of your soul in that regard, you must then arouse your affections as follows. Give thanks to God for any amendment you may have found in your life since your profession of devotion. Ask pardon for your unfaithfulness and disloyalty in responding to his grace. Offer him your heart so that he may make himself its master in all things.
