The Role of Lips in the Evolution of Dinosaurs
Fossilized teeth from a T-Rex were the first to show signs of lips. Researchers also looked at monitor lizards, which have very large teeth. They found similar relationship between tooth and skull size as these lizards did. So your hypothesis then is that animals like T-Rex would have had their teeth covered.
