Schism is not submitting to proper authority. Heresy is refusing to believe, or believing in contradiction to doctrine that christians must believe. But i think when you look at the contexts of the passage here, what he is saying is that people are engaged in not virtuous conduct, or vices, vicious conduct and that their emotions are preventing them from giving this this proper submission.
