The Effects of SDD on the Microbiome
The evidence that SDD improves survival for all comers in intensive care unit is strong. It's not a large effect but we don't necessarily expect large mortality benefits in agents that are primarily prophylactic in character. Much more important in this trial from my mind has been the impact on the microbiome, both of the intensive care unit and of the individual patient.
