You want somebody who's emotionally unstable. That characteristic in it, and there is a stable personality characteristic goes under different names, anxiety, neuroticism, emotional ability, etc. But that's the single personality characteristic that's that is most predictive of breakup, sin divorces. And in studies that I've done, predictive of conflict and couples, people who are emotionally unstable, they just get into a lot of conflict with their partner. They see conflict in order to to attain intimacy. So unless you have put stress test on relationships, you really don't know where things stand.

David Buss is an evolutionary psychologist at UT Austin. He is one of the founders of the field of evolutionary psychology.
