Abbot's Metamorphoses Is a Handbook of Classical Mythology
A theme that runs through Joyce's work is this one of what do the seasons call, the consubstantiality of the father and the son. Abbot furthermore gathers his myths in categories. He gives great many examples of the god and nymph, for example, in play or the youth seeking the father. So that again, you see that these great themes appear in many metamorphoses. The main lines of the stories are duplicated also in the Bible.
