The Signs of Intimate Partner Emotional Abuse
Emotional abuse targets the emotional and psychological well-being of the victim. Another term for intimate partner emotional abuse is coercive control, which is an oppressive form of abuse grounded in gender-based privilege. The law recognizes physical and sexual violence as crimes, but not emotional abuse - even though it is a pervasive form of relationship abuse. Emotional abuse often results in anxiety, chronic depression and post-traumatic stress disorder.
