The Aftershocks of the Pandemic
Consumer spending in the first quarter grew over 4% annualized. We're just not going to get that in the second quarter, says Wells Fargo's Jay Parikh. The big driver of consumer spending growth in the economy is services; auto sector has been a huge part of it. But we hopefully are getting to the point where things, the aftershocks of the pandemic, in terms of the economy, are now settling out.
