Ermmann's Sentimentality Got in the Way of Conservatives in the Presbyterian Church
Ermmann served as pastor of first Presbyterian Church in Princeton from 1924 to 1934. He was also elected, importantly, as the moderator of the General Assembly in 1925. Machin supported Clarence McCartney over Ermmann and Ermmann took offense.
