The Tea Party and the Whigs
There was a deep divide between Catholics and Protestants in England when James became king. The Whigs were the party that had wanted to exclude James from the succession are his most likely enemies. At the opposite extreme you have Catholics there were a number of private so-called Catholic recusants who refused to take part in Anglican worship it was by this time a small minority but not insignificant maybe about about 1,000 people.
