The Importance of a Hostess
Laying the table is both an imitation and a risk. It's a sacrifice, not only of time and resources, but of our own vulnerability. We cannot let our financial situation determine whether or not we are going to live into a kingdom economy. For if god is leisurely, he is also endlessly creative. All he asks of us is the willingness to offer up the loaves and fishes of our individual lives for his limitless kingdom. And finally, there is the opposition of our own inadequacy. Not just what we have to offer, but who we are.
