I've always been interested in history so some of my earliest obsessions as a kid were paleontology and extinctions. I actually came up through English departments through university but I always felt kind of alien and didn't really fit. So at some point during undergrad I went and was like I'm going to go and read through these people that you know are so railed against in the humanities so the kind of grand figures of the enlightenmentSo yeah how does one find themselves? It's quite an old field so you could trace it back to probably to the enlightenment actually but people have only started kind of really talking about the history of ideas with those terms since the early 1900s.
