Introduction
Maria de Maritas is a senior fellow at Bruego. In December 2022, the European Central Bank will start unwinding its portfolio of assets it had purchased since 2015. These policies often refer to as quantitative tightening. Quantitative tightening has never been tried in the euro area and what little evidence there is can only be drawn from the 2017-2019 experience in the US.
