The Single Deadliest Single Aircraft Incident in History
Japan Airlines flight 123 crashed in 1985, killing 520 people. The daughter of the captain was a fighter tenant for Japan Airlines at the time and wanted to pursue aviation like her father. 747s were retired entirely from that fleet on March 2nd, 2011. Every year, families of the victims hold an annual memorial near the crash site out there.
