The Importance of Parasympathetic Activity in Training

The autonomic nervous system is something that we're not in control of, right? And that's why it's totally self regulated. So if you get a fright, you can feel your kind of heart rate increase. That's the sympathetic nervous system taking over. But getting into the HRV, what we know is that when you're in the times of stress, you have lower variation in the gaps between your heart beats. When you exercise, it becomes very, very regular, very low variability between beats. Therefore, it's little more of that sympathetic activity.
