The Business Model of Journalism

Joan Didion wrote that the United States of America in 1967 was not a spring of brave hopes and national promise. She writes: "All that seemed clear was that at some point, we had aborted ourselves and butchered the job" There's something almost eerily prescient about that passage and its relevance now or its application now. But is there something that is pushing journalists away from keying in on insightful descriptions?
