The new photo app lets you add photos to your library. It's not supposed to work that way, but when it works, it's a little more delightful. The better feature is that in messages, you get a little a download arrow next to every photo that somebody sends you. And if you tap it, it adds it to your photo's library - which should have been there long ago.
