Song of the South - A History of the Black American Movement
During the war, black american activists were united behind the concept of double v. By 19 forty six, when song of the south was gearing up for release, it was unclear if the momentum behind double v had survived beyond d day. Ultimately, activists couldn't agree on the correct response tosong of the south. When the American council on race relations urged the n a c p to support them in boycotting the film, the n ac p declined. It simply opened and did ok at the box office despite mixed reviews, and then it disappeared. None of these protests caught fire the way protests against the birth of a nation had, for better or for worse.
