Ketogenic Diets Have No Metabolic Advantage

The advantage of a ketogenic diet is that your appetite is suppressed, so you naturally eat less. You don't have these big postprandial blood glucose excursions and trigger hypoglycemic response. There's some theories out there that if you follow ketogenic diet, it'll increase brown fat accumulation which could allow one to burn off more calories.
