People will often be intellectually dishonest inadvertently by some sort of false analogy or other fallacy. It doesn't mean that they're a jerk that's trying to ruin America or the family or their relationship or their friendship. Sometimes it happens because you don't get logical fallacy. Each of us would be more likely to believe the BS of our own slippery slope fallacy in the course of argument as we want the thing we believe to be true.
