The Quirkiness of Organisms
I think it's hard to know, obviously. But I do think of it as a fascinating question to move from the level of population of individual organisms to looking within the organism at a population of cells or these different cell types that have to each have their own sort of functions. And so to me, that's also a very fascinating kind of levels of selection kind of problem. Yeah, I would just question whether all this quirkiness is something. It could be. Some individuals might do better under certain conditions and then other individuals do better under other conditions. So you can also maintain variation at a population level in response to kind of fluctuating environments that way.
