How Academic Science Is Often Pitted Against Community Science

I'm thinking about how within the michological community, academic science is often pitted against community science. I think there's a lot of different angles that are really ar really important. Academia has a history of being extremely exclusive, particularly on the basis of race, gender and class. Therere artifacts all around us that are just incorrect, but yet imbedded deeply in our understanding of organisms.
