In the early 2000s, most people didn't have tech that could support MP3s. Hit Clips was a cartridge the size of a thumbnail that could play back courses of radio singles. These were made for children and mostly distributed through kid-friendly sources like McDonald's Happy Meals. Today MP3s are still the dominant format; we just stream them over the internet using our phones or computers.
