A study found that people picked up their phone every three to five minutes. The less control we have over our attention, the less autonomy we feel,. And even the less satisfied we are with our life. So if you look around you in your office, wherever you might be happy to listen, listening to this, every single thing in your environment can serve as a distraction.

I've been friends with Chris Bailey for years, dating back to our lunch at a diner in Ottawa when I was in his neck of the woods for a speaking engagement. We've had plenty of chats over the years and they've only become more frequent as the years have progressed. (After all, there aren't many Canadians who have dedicated their life's work to the realm of productivity and time management.)
