There has to be some fertile ground there for that stuff to take root. The Soviets used to flood the zone with all kinds of conspiracy theories, but it's almost like the American system had a better immune system against that stuff. But you know, these things didn't catch on and broader society in part because you didn't have, you know, news channels that would pump this sludge all day long.
