Preaching the Gospel of Jesus
All four gospels end with a call from Jesus to his disciples to preach the gospel. St. Francis of Assisi took that literally and was found preaching the gospel to the birds in that famous story. And all around us are people who are just as lost as the Maori were. Or even more so, because we're not pre-Christian,. We're post-Christian, we're not a blank slate. A lot of us have an emotional baggage that is a U-Haul size to the distortions of the gospel in Western culture. It's good and beautiful, but a lot of us are emotionally kind of allergic to preaching the gospel of Jesus for all sorts of reasons.
