Harvard law school is one of the best places for academic freedom at the moment, says professor. Law schools are not creating this kind of culture but doing a lot to counteract it, he adds. "Teaching how to disagree in a way that is civil should be part of how people act in a democracy"

Jeannie Suk Gersen is the John H. Watson, Jr. Professor of Law at Harvard Law School and a contributing writer at The New Yorker. She writes widely about the law and its impact on society.
