Ivan the Latt never confessed to any of the backpacker murders, so the narrative of the crimes themselves is limited to what the evidence tells us and educated guesswork. A couple of months later, in December 1989, a pair of Australian hitchhikers, 19-year-olds Deborah Everest and James Gibson went missing.
