The History of Sugar

Sugar was first cultivated in New Guinea and Southeast Asia thousands of years ago. By the Middle Ages, there was a legit cookbook containing recipes that used sugar. For Anya and her roommates, this works out to about 71 grams of sugar per person per day. It's also nearly triple the number the American Heart Association recommends.
