There was initially a group of people who made comments in the press and had never even read the paper. And this is part of a continuing thing where started during the days of th e tobacco problems. I think carl and the rest of us roll called communists in the wall street journal, and dupes of the communists. But nevertheless, most of the science community saw this like af science problem. They set to work to find anything wrong with it that they could. Therewas quie few people who worked on it, but it was blocked, at the time, by the government.
