I think it's also important to recognize that probably the majority of transposable element sequence that is in our genum isat is actually inactivated. A lot of those transposal elements have accumulated mutations. There are some transposable elements that require very little sequence conservation and that's only because they parastize each other. They don't even try to copy themselves,. t they kind of just are hanging on the coat tails of others.
