Introduction

The Chalocchias, tributary kings in North Karnataka overthrew their overlords and founded a great embevahman that stretched from the west coast almost to the east. At the heart of that empire was the Mala Prabha Valley, one end of the valley, the fortress town of Badami - poised just where the high cliffs rise from the plains. We've visited there before and you can go and check out the episodes. But this week I've had the very great pleasure of talking to Dr Hemant Kadambi, Professor at Shivnada University. He's one of the most pleasant people to talk to about any issue but even better, his
