How to Assimilate Trauma Data

The primary survey is that kind of fast structured approach looking to identify those gross life-threatening concerns. The secondary surveys are much more systematic and detailed examination of all of the different body regions. In a stable trauma patient, often the secondary survey will follow on shortly after the primary survey. But in unstable patients, it's much more likely that the secondary survey is going to be done in parallel by multiple team members who then feed their findings back to the lead clinician. Robin Simon: I fundamentally disagree with JRKEL guidelines on this because they say that the critical patient should have a secondary survey during transport. Our priority in any patients is to treat the life-threatening issues before transfer without delay
