Are Women Less Competitive Than Men?

In economics, we have probably 100 papers that do the classic experiment and show that women are indeed less competitive than men. Men thrive in a competitive environment and women stay the same as the piece rate. When you force people to compete, you have that men get a boost in performance. But in most cultures, you have male or more competitive than women. It seems like economics is the last of the social science to make this step. Why? Because it's 20 years that we are producing experiment that replicates across culture.
