Healing Trauma: The Immobility Response

The next thing that your body does is it just kind of collapses. It goes into what would be a, just a collapse. We're in a state of apathy, of fatigue, of shutdown. And I have various pictures from nature. For example, where a cheetah is chasing down a herd of gazelles and then you see miraculously the gazellers twists over and starts running as though nothing had happened. So this collapse response, this immobility response is meant to be temporary. The big problem is when we get stuck in it. And the thing that keeps us stuck is fear.
