The Importance of Reality

I read an interview with Millhauser about people calling his stories, you know, realistic or not realistic. I'd argue that the convention of the realist story doesn't begin to do justice to the blazing thing that deserves the name of reality. So do you think reality by that definition is what he's captured here? Oh, absolutely. It's hard to walk down the street of your prosperous little pen and see it. And most importantly, feel the same way about yourself.
