The Role of Liberalism in Race Issues
I think there's plenty of recognition that liberalism is far more normative than it claims to be. I have a great interest in the American 19th century, and it was very interesting that some of the most militant supporters of liberal ideology as it was violently spanning France right in the late 18th century. And if that brings me in league with critical race theorists, I'm happy to be in league with them.
